A 709 Word Interview with Sweet Catholic Life

Editor’s Note: Matthew Chicoine interviewed Katie Luangkhot, Founder of Sweet Catholic Life, via phone on February 20th, 2026. Some of the questions/answers have been rearranged, edited, and paraphrased to provide the best reader experience without losing any integrity of the answers given.

What first inspired you to start Sweet Catholic Life?

I was on Instagram as a mom blogger in 2018 and I was feeling unfulfilled, so I shut down my page. I reopened the page in 2019 and started by praying a Rosary live. I shifted my name from Sweet Momma Life to Sweet Catholic Life.

Because my kids were getting older I had to shift my prayers to the afternoon from the morning. We pray a live Chapel of Divine Mercy at 3pm. We read a little bit from Maria Faustina’s Diary. And we aim for a weekly Rosary in the evening at 8pm.

And the community has grown and it’s been incredible.

Your content makes prayer feel very approachable. Why do you think “simple, daily faithfulness” is such a powerful way to evangelize today?

Because it’s daily simple tools of being intentional and how to keep Christ at the center of online. I took a course on Reform online and learned there are daily devotions for each day.

As parents those simple prayers are our acts of prayer.

You have a strong devotion to Our Lady, especially through the Rosary. How has Marian devotion shaped your spiritual life — and how do you help others grow closer to Mary without feeling overwhelmed?

Incredibly so, I have been praying the Rosary since I was a little girl. I don’t think my faith would be as strong if it wasn’t for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sometimes you don’t realize something is a miracle unless you share it with others.

The Rosary is so powerful because you are giving up your suffering into the hands of Mary and trusting that She will lay those sufferings in the hands of Jesus. I have just felt so much peace when praying the Rosary.

Do you have a favorite Mystery of the Rosary?

I am a traditionalist so I usually only pray the original three. I love the Glorious probably most. But my children love the joyful mysteries. And several times we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries.

You often emphasize praying in the middle of ordinary life. What advice would you give to busy parents who want a deeper prayer life but feel like they’re barely keeping up as it is?

I think it’s really important that our vocation is our prayer. Once we see it that way, that our station in life is how God is calling us: Our chores, teaching, work are the prayers. And in the little pockets of the day where there is silence you can give back to God in prayer. For example, my husband will pray his Rosary during his work commute. Give thanks to God ahead of time. He will always answer our prayers. It’s an act of entrustment when we express gratitude towards God even when He doesn’t answer our prayers. I will share that there have been urgent situations where I have asked God and He has answered our prayers.

What’s one story or moment from your ministry that made you step back and say, “Okay… God is really working here”?

It’s incredible, the amount of people who had said they were Catholic and said they never knew about the Chaplet of Divine Mercy or those who never knew about the Rosary.

And to hear from so many people who decided to enter.

If someone reading this interview wants to start living a “sweet Catholic life” today, what’s one small step they can take this week?

With it being the first Friday of Lent, I recommend making a small commitment this Lent to go to Adoration to deepen your relationship with Jesus. Going to Adoration with my husband has been so transformative for my marriage. I know that everyone is at different stations in life, but I do think that Eucharistic Adoration is so important. It’s a place to find the peace that God is in control and He loves you.

Also go to Confession as often as you can. And the season of Lent is the perfect time for that sacrament. And Station of the Cross is another simple way to pray this Lent.

Where is the best place for my readers to find more of your work/ministry?
